Good morning.  I thought I’d share a picture of something we can all look forward to.  It should give us all hope despite tonight’s forecast….

There, doesn’t that just make you feel a little bit better today?

Congratulations to our Boys B Basketball team for winning their post-season tournament here at GMS by defeating Winnisquam.  Tyler Talbot led the team with 21 points while Austin Normandin was hustling all over the court both offensively and defensively.  The entire team put in a solid effort in the win.

Congratulations also to Harry LaFlamme for earning Honorable Mention at the state level of the PTA Reflections program.  Harry earned his honor in the photography category.

I have attached a flyer regarding a STEM program opportunity for middle schoolers hosted by the UNH College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.  I have also attached this month’s edition of the Parks & Rec Newsletter.

Tomorrow we once again host the Unified Basketball Jamboree at 3:00.  Schools from the area will be here to compete and “break bread” together with dinner to follow the hoop action.

This Saturday from 4:00-7:00 is Family Fun Night for GES/GMS families over at the elementary school.  There will be sledding, dancing, arts/crafts, obstacle course, and pizza for sale.

In the same line of thought as the picture above, the new varsity baseball coach, Vint Choiniere, is holding Winter Workout sessions (February 19, 26 and March 5, 12, 19) in the high school gym.  If you have any questions, please contact our AD, Rick Acquiliano.

From The Middle Years*:  Looking ahead to college – It’s not too early to start talking to your tween about higher education.  If you attended college, tell them about your favorite courses and extracurricular activities. Or connect them with a neighbor or family member who’s in college now.  The student could explain what it’s like to apply and choose a school; and maybe even give your youngster a campus tour.

Next Week’s Events:

Saturday = Nordic Ski Meet at Plymouth (10:30)

Monday = Grade 7 & 8 Mathalon Meet at Moultonborough (3:30)

Tuesday = Gilford Together meeting at Gilford Community Church (6:30)

Thursday = High and Seek presentation at GES (6:00)

Friday = Nordic Ski Meet at Sandwich (10:30)

Thank you and have a nice day.  Spring is coming!  I promise….

Peter
