Good afternoon.  We had another successful Winter Carnival today up at Gunstock and over at the Merrill Fay Ice Arena.  The kids were in great spirit and should sleep well tonight!

Interested in having your child participate in a spring sport?  I have attached 3 attachments one each for Lakes Region Tennis Association, Cal Ripken Baseball and Lakes Region Lacrosse.  There is also a Gilford Youth Softball Clinic on March 12, 19, 26 and April 2 (ages 3 ½ to 7 from 11:30-12:30 and ages 8-13 from 10:00-11:30) here at Gilford.  There will also be a spring sports meeting for parents to meet the coaches on March 14 at 6:00 in our cafeteria.

Next Thursday at 6:00, the folks at Gilford PTA and Gilford Together are sponsoring, “The Anonymous People” presentation to be held at the GES cafeteria.  This is a documentary film about the over 23 million living in long-term recovery and the emerging public recovery movement that will transform how alcohol and other drug challenges are dealt with in our communities.

Parent tip from the Middle Years*:  “Now hear this”  Active listening skills will make your middle grader an effective communicator through-out life.  Model these skills by looking at him/her then they talk to you and repeating what they say to show that you understood.  And have conversations about topics he’s interested in so they practice speaking and listening.

I hope you were able to check out the article in this week’s Gilford Steamer about the great things happening here at GMS.  If not, please let me know and I can email you the article.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Peter
