Good afternoon.  I hope that the bus drop-off routine is not a major pain for you.  It certainly makes it safer for everyone. We may find, however, that we’ll need to have you loop through the parking lot (like you do in the afternoon) in the morning to help alleviate congestion on Alvah Wilson.  It’s certainly a work-in-progress and I appreciate your patience/cooperation.

We begin our state testing next week (aka “NHSAS”).  I have asked my staff to go light on the homework and am asking you to help make sure that your kids are well-rested, well-fed and ready to go!  The testing dates look like this; but are subject to change:

  • Monday, Tuesday & Thursday = Grades 5 & 8 Reading and Writing assessments

  • May 13-15 = Grades 6 & 7 Reading and Writing assessments

  • May 16 & 20 = Grades 5 & 8 Science assessment

  • May 21 & 22 = Grades 6 & 7 Math assessment

  • May 23 & 24 = Grades 5 & 8 Math assessment

Please remind your child to make sure that their Chromebook is charged and to bring in a charger.  We do have mice and headphones for them to use but they are most certainly allowed to use their own.  And they should (actually, must) leave their phone in their lockers but may bring a book to read in the event they finish early.

I have attached to this email information regarding out Summer Theatre Camp.  There are two camps this year, “Footloose” and “Technical Theatre.”)

We do still have a snowboard here leftover from our Winter Carnival back in March.  It is a “Factory Boarding-Waver.” If it is your child’s, please contact the main office.

This year’s PTA Poetry Contest winners were recently announced.  Those from the middle school gathering honors (and their poems) were:

  • Grade 5 = Rylan Paradis (Different)

  • Grade 6 = Hunter Bell (Reading)

  • Grade 7 = Abby Kenyon (Waiting in the Rain)

  • Grade 8 = Savannah Neumann (Drifted with the Wind)

  • Overall GMS Winner = 8th grader, Murphy Harris (Your Photo Gallery)

Winners are invited to read their poems at the Gilford Public Library at 6:30 on May 21st.  Congrats to all!!

This coming Thursday is our Monster Band Concert.  The wonderful, annual, event takes place at the high school at 7:00.  At the same start time on May 16, will be the, also equally wonderful, District Choral Concert.

The last PTA Clothing Sale of the year will run through next Friday.  To order your cool gear, follow this link!

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Peter
