Good afternoon.  We’ve gotten off to a good start to the state testing.  Overall, students were taking the assessment seriously and were working hard to improve their scores from last year’s state test.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week (including School Nurse’s Day on the 9th).  The folks from both the PTA and our VSC (Volunteer Steering Committee) are planning some special treats for our well-deserved staff.  I know that I am “preaching to the choir” when I say that our staff continues to do an amazing job in educating our students here in Gilford.

You should have already received an email regarding this summer’s Math Academy but I have also attached to this email, information/registration regarding this summer’s Gilford Got Lunch program.

Next week’s events:

  • Monday = Baseball and Softball at Inter-Lakes (4:00); Track Meet at Wolfeboro (4:00); School Board Meeting (6:00)

  • Wednesday = Early Release (12:20); Baseball and Softball at Gilmanton (4:00)

  • Thursday = Unified Indoor Soccer (3:30); Monster Band Concert (7:00) THIS IS A MUST SEE EVENT!! In the GHS auditorium.

  • Friday = 5th Grade Field Trip to Manchester; 8th Grade Field Trip to NHTI-Concord

This week’s tip from the Middle Years* - 1-2-3 Kindness - Being a kind person helps children form strong relationships and enjoy a greater sense of belonging at school and at home.  Try these steps to encourage kindness: 1. Develop Ideas. Together, brainstorm ways to show kindness. 2. Track actions. Divide a sheet of paper into boxes, and write an idea in each square.  Now look for opportunities to perform these acts of kindness. For each one completed, “x” it out. 3. Repeat. When the sheet if full, make a new one!

Thank you and have a nice weekend.
