Good afternoon.  I hope you’re getting some rays this afternoon; they’ve been stingy this spring.

After you soak up the sun, I hope you can join us tonight for the Monster Band Concert which begins at 7:00 in the high school auditorium.  The event features the band from grades 4-12 and also the 8th grade band from the Gilmanton School. Kudos to Ms. Auger, Mrs.Babcock, Mr. Warnick and Mrs. Beyrent for their work with our students.  And next week, Mrs. Sanborn will join them in celebrating the talents of our respective choirs.

Speaking of the Performing Arts, we will be hosting a major middle school event next year (May 9, 2020); the Northern District Music Festival.  This features more than 150 talented students from around the state playing and singing beautiful music.

Congratulations to our Special Education program (and the entire school district) for meeting the criteria/indicators to earn “determination” letters.  Put simply, we have met all of the requirements for special education, specifically the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004. This has been the case since 2010!  Great work by our case managers and paraprofessionals!!

This week has been Teacher Appreciation Week.  Our much deserving staff we treated to a luncheon provided by our Volunteer Steering Committee headed by Gigi Johnson.  Later, our generous PTA will be giving our staff an ice cream buffet by Jordan’s Ice Cream. It brings me great pleasure for the community to show their appreciation for what our talented faculty/staff do each day here at GMS.

Reminder that next week, Grades 6 & 7 will do the Reading & Writing portions of the NHSAS test and Grades 5 & 8 will begin the Science portion of the assessment.

Next Friday, there is an Early Release as well as a dance here at the middle school for students in grades 6-8 (7:00-8:30).

Take care,
