Good evening.  I hope you get this email in time as a reminder (if you needed it) for the Monster Band Concert taking place at GHS at 7:00 tonight.  Students from all three schools (plus Gilmanton!) will dazzle us with their talent. Pre-kudos to Mr. Warnick and Mrs. Beyrent for doing such a great job in conducting these musicians.  Next week, it’ll be Mr. Warnick (again) and Mrs. Sanborn leading our vocalists! Same time, same place next Thursday.

Congrats to our PTA Poetry Contest Winners.  Each of the grade level winners will receive a $10 gift card from Jordan’s Ice Cream and the overall middle school winner will get a $50 Amazon gift card.  You can hear them read their poems next Wednesday night at 6:00 in the Gilford Public Library. Here they are:

  • 5th Grade = Kendall Myers

  • 6th Grade = Andrew McDonough

  • 7th Grade = Murphy Harris

  • 8th Grade = Colby Smith

  • Overall GMS Winner = Samuel Leggett

Upcoming Volunteer Fingerprinting and Orientation Clinics during the Kindergarten Visitation so that new parents can go through the process at GES.  All other parents are invited to attend, too. They are both on June 19 from 9:00-11:00 and 12:00-2:00.

I have attached the brochure for the Gilford Youth Center’s Summer Program.

On Tuesday, May 22, GES is hosting this year’s Community Partner/Teaching and Learning EXPO from 5:30-7:30.  This is to show off what our students do here in the district as well as celebrating the tremendous support the district receives from community partners.

The Gilford Youth Center is hosting a Comedy Night (presented by Cantin Chevrolet) this Saturday from 6:30-10:00.  Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.

Our 8th Graders are traveling to NHTI tomorrow to the annual “Financial Literacy Fair.”  They will participate in a hands-on event that propels them through the personal financial management process, including career selection, budgeting for housing, transportation, luxuries, etc.  This will be the third year that our 8th grade class has participated and each class comes back acknowledging that it was a most worthwhile trip.

Next week’s events:

  • The 5th & 8th Graders will do their Reading and Writing NH State Assessments.

  • Monday = Track Meet (4:00)

  • Wednesday = Baseball/Softball at Belmont (3:30); Unified Indoor Soccer at Laconia (3:30); PTA Poetry Reflections Night at the Gilford Public Library (6:00)

  • Thursday = Choral Concert (7:00)

  • Friday = Early Release (12:20); Baseball/Softball at Franklin (3:30)

Enjoy this evening.  Thank you.
