Good afternoon.  This promises to be a good weekend.  Not only is it a 3-day weekend but I get to start it off with a Fisher Cat game tonight and enjoy watching our students show off their musical talents on the playing field as our Band and Chorus will perform in front of the home crowd.

Recently, our 8th graders traveled to NHTI to take part in the “C4U Reality Fair.” This is an interactive event where students simulate spending decisions they will face when they graduate from high school using the entry-level salary of a profession of their choice that they have researched in advance with Mr. Bowler. The goal is to stay within a monthly budget. Our students worked with credit union volunteers to help them make spending decisions in various expense categories, such as housing, transportation, utilities and entertainment. Each year, our students return stating how much they enjoyed this experience; this year was no different.  And it was nice to see them all dressed up like professionals!

Attached to this email is the application for our town’s Gilford Got Lunch program.  If you have any specific questions, you may contact our school nurse, Beth Haddock.  I have also attached the most recent edition of our town’s Park & Recreation newsletter.

Pencil in on your calendars that our annual Middle School Pops Night will be on Friday, June 7.  This event will be held in our cafeteria. More details to come.

You’ll be pleased to know that each grade level reports that the students worked very hard on their state testing these past few weeks.  They just have one more round of testing (the biannual NWEA assessments). We are stressing to the students that we’re looking for them to give their best effort and to show growth over last year’s testing (NHSAS) and over last Fall’s (NWEA) testing.

Next Thursday, our 7th Graders take part in their annual community service event; the Spring clean-up of Gilford Beach; rain date is Friday, May 31.

Please take the time this weekend to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  And, as always, try and get some quality family time in, too.

Take care,
