Good afternoon.  I hope you had a happy Halloween.  Did your kids get too much candy? If so, you can donate your extra treats to support our Troops, Veterans and First Responders!  Last year Operation Gratitude collected more than 400,000 pounds of candy, distributing it to US Troops serving far away from home, Veterans, and First Responders.  This year, Ms. Scudder’s homeroom would like to increase that donation as a way of saying “Thank you” to all who have served. You can bring in individually wrapped, fun-sized Halloween candy next week; please do not donate bags of loose candy.  Students can bring them to Ms. Scudder’s room and they can also be brought to the front office during parent conferences next week.

I have attached to this email two documents.  One regarding the GHS Interact/Gilford Rotary’s upcoming, “Tea Party” on November 10 and the Gilford Got Lunch Election Day Food Drive next Tuesday at the Gilford Youth Center.

Next week, our Student Council will begin their “Showing Gratitude Campaign.”  Members will be working lunches selling thank you notes ($2 for 1 or $5 for 3).  The notes will be attached to baggies of candy and delivered Thanksgiving Week. Staff and students will be able to write a thank you note to a friend, teacher, student or colleague showing them appreciation for making them laugh, standing up for them, listening to them, helping them etc.  Anything that “filled their bucket.”

Next week’s events:

Monday = School Board Meeting at GHS Library (5:30-7:00); Presentation of School Board Proposed Budget at GHS Auditorium (7:00).

Thursday = No Homework Group; Parent Conferences (3:00-6:00)

Friday = No School; Parent Conferences (8:00-3:00)

Thank you and have a nice weekend!

Peter
