Just a friendly reminder of our lock down drillmorning at . This could mean that traffic will get backed up on Alvah Wilson Road as while we’re in lock down (no more than 10 minutes), students may have to remain in your car as there will be no access to the building. I apologize, in advance, for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Next week is the viewing of “Screenagers” at the elementary school at. This is the first joint venture between the PTA and Gilford Together and is free to the community. Their next event, “High and Seek,” will take place in February and is designed to help parents pick up on clues that are within the teen’s bedroom that their teen maybe using alcohol and/or drugs. This event is also co-sponsored by the Partnership of Public Health.
Recently, students in all grades participated in the annual National History Bee. The following students qualified to take part in the online portion of the competition: Matthew Farah (school champion), Kendall Jones, Peter Christensen, Emma Tierno, Anthony Aquiar, Colby Smith, Timmy Jagusch, Henry Stow, Michael Kitto, and Patrick Gandini. They will qualify for the New Englands if they finish in the top 25% on the online exam.
This week’s tip from the Middle Years* Dream Team: Encourage your tween to list the people in his/her life they could turn to if they needed help. The list might include you, teachers, coaches, relatives, or neighbors. Then, when they need someone to talk to about a problem with a friend or why they didn’t make a particular team, they can pick from among their “dream team.”
