Good afternoon.  Typically, the “week before the week” of a vacation is the most challenging. Students know that vacation is looming but they can’t quite taste it yet.  But this past week has been atypical; students have been performing amazingly well.  I credit you, the parents, and our staff for a smooth running week; and I thank you..

What better way to celebrate the holiday season than to attend our annual Winter Concert?  It happens this Tuesday, December 19 at 7:00 in the high school auditorium.  I promise you:  You will be amazed at the talent that our directors, Warnick, Sanborn, and Beyrent get to work with each day.  Also that night, the Parents of Performing Arts will be having a raffle to help raise funds for that organization.

Continuing with the performing arts, congratulations to Bradley McIntire, Taryn Wernig, Patrick Gandini, Dylan Hamel, Trevor Chassie, Sam Leggett, and Kelin Jeffreys for being chosen to represent Gilford in this year’s Lakes Region, Jr. Music Festival.  This is quite an honor as they will perform with other talented musicians when the festival takes place on March 9 at Belmont Middle School.

Today, I shared with students and staff the state of New Hampshire’s “NH State House Bicentennial Essay Contest.”  This is open for any student in our district.  A total of 9 awards will be given to students who best write about the theme, “The NH State House and its Meaning Today.”  Please encourage your child to consider this contest.  Your child (and our staff) was emailed the necessary information and paperwork.

Next week’s events:

Monday = Girls & Boys A Basketball (4:00/5:00)

Tuesday = GMHS Winter Concert (7:00)

Wednesday = Girls & Boys B Basketball at Laconia (3:30/4:30)

Thursday = NO Homework Group

Friday = Girls & Boys A Basketball (4:30/5:30)

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.
