Good afternoon.  This past Tuesday was one of the most special of days here at the middle school (and even the elementary school!).  This wonderful community worked with the fine folks at the Make-A-Wish Foundation and put on an assembly about kindness and doing for others.  It culminated with Gard Family having their “wish granted” for their son, Georgie. Batman and Spiderman were even on hand to make it even more special.  I know I speak for Danielle over at the elementary school in that we have never seen such a fine audience. There were nearly 800 people in the auditorium and the students from both schools were simply awesome; lots of buckets were filled on that day.

Please follow this link to the computer network “acceptable use policy” paperwork.  This must be completed and turned in before your child can access the school’s network.  Please do so as soon as possible.

Homework Group has begun after school. This runs from 2:30-4:00 from Monday-Thursday (except on Early Release days).  Students may use this time to complete their homework and get help from the teacher and/or paraprofessional each of whom oversee the program.  Students must be picked no later than 4:00, please, and students who are not using their time wisely or are disruptive to others will be asked to leave.

I was able to sit down with some more 8th graders this week.  This has been the best part of my day; getting to know my students better.  If they enjoy it half as much as me, then it is a big win. Some of the interesting things I learned this week was that we have a 3-time Junior Olympian swimmer, a Junior National racquetball player, a student who was recognized by the police in Maine for helping the deer population, a YouTuber who has done a review on slime, has worked at the Children’s Auction since she was 4 years old, has earned their CPR certification and someone who has a pet fish, “Senor Pez.”  All very good stuff!

I have also attached to this email four documents; two regarding the Gilford Got Lunch program.  Please take a look at these if you’d like to help out or if you are in need of some assistance, and two regarding the fundraising efforts of our very generous PTA.

Next week’s events:
