  • 9/13/2018 Good afternoon.  This past Tuesday was one of the most special of days here at the middle school (and even the elementary school!).  This wonderful community worked with the fine folks at the Make-A-Wish Foundation and put on an assembly about kindness and doing for others.  It culminated with Gard Family having their “wish granted” for their son, Georgie. Batman and Spiderman were even on hand to make it even more special.  I know I speak for Danielle over at the elementary school in that we have never seen such a fine audience. There were nearly 800 people in the auditorium and the students from both schools were simply awesome; lots of buckets were filled on that day ...

  • 09/07/2018 Notification from: Gilford Middle SchoolGood afternoon.  The weather has finally broken and our students (and staff) can now stop melting.  I have to give both a lot of credit as it is not easy to teach and learn in such hot/humid weather.  They’re troopers, for sure!Next Thursday is our Open House which runs from 4:30-6:00.  You may come and go as you’d like. This is a chance for you to meet your child’s new teacher and check out the school.  In November, we will hold our parent conferences where you will have a chance to sit down and talk about your child’s progress so far this year.I have begun ...

  • 08/31/2018 Good afternoon.  This may have been one of the nicest starts to a school year that I have ever had.  Staff weren’t just “proficient” but were “proficient with distinction”! The students truly seemed to be happy to be back in school. I am very fortunate to work with such nice staff and students.  Mr. Walsh and I spoke with each of the grade levels on the first day of school and spoke mostly about how to be good citizens with each other, filling each other’s “buckets” with positive moments and gestures, and how to stay away from the “drama” that can sometimes consume an adolescent’s life.  All four grades were great audience members; I think they appreciated ...

  • 08/23/2018 Good afternoon.  We’re just days away now!  As always, at this time of year, we all look forward to the return of kids in our building.  Our dedicated faculty and staff have been in and out of the building all summer preparing for the big day!   There are several items that I need to share with you before the school year starts. So, here it goes! Please remember to submit the paperwork for the Chromebooks as soon as possible.  On Monday and Tuesday afternoon, students will be able to get their Chromebooks (if they have their paperwork) up in the library.  They can wait until the first day of school, of course. I have also attached the "acceptable use ...

  • 06/15/2018 Good afternoon and welcome to the last weekly parent update of the school year!  Today was a very special day at the middle school as we had two major events; the Silver Hawk Award Ceremony and the Talent Show.  Regarding the Talent Show, I am always amazed as to the varied talents our students possess.  It is pretty cool to see the things that they do as we often do not have a platform here for them to show off their skills.  Kudos to Mr. Warnick and Mrs. Moynihan for organizing this event. We started off the day with the 3rd Trimester Silver Hawk Awards.  We did things differently this trimester by increasing the number of recipients (it is always ...
