Good morning, parents, students and staff.

I hope that you’re all still hanging in there. The weather will be warmer soon which should lift everyone’s spirits. Even though we are still not sure what summer will bring at least we can look forward to it. We’re in this together and we can do it! There is lots to read today so sit back and enjoy!

Friday Announcements & Silver Hawk Awards:

At the end of tomorrow’s morning announcements, Mr. Walsh and I will be holding our 2nd Trimester Silver Hawk Award Ceremony. So please feel free to join your child and watch it tomorrow beginning at 9:00.

Emailing Teachers:

What we have quickly discovered is that because of the massive number of emails that our staff receive each day it is nearly impossible to get back to students and/or parents with answers to their questions. Also, not all students email teachers during their “office hours” because of a variety of reasonable reasons so that may even lengthen the delay of a response. In the meantime, some students are at a standstill in getting their work done.

So we have created a version of an “online help desk” where students/parents can reach out to. When emailing a teacher also “Cc:” the email to gmshelp@sau73.org There are 5 staff members who will receive this email and even if they are not able answer the question, they should be able to point you in the right direction. If you have ANY questions regarding technology, navigating Visions, navigating various websites, where to find information, etc. then this is where you should email those questions to.

It continues to be important that when you are emailing a teacher and/or the “gmshelp” desk, that your student is a specific as possible when posing their questions in order to help reduce any confusion. And when students submit work that is past the due date, they should email the teacher that they have submitted the work. Depending on how the teacher has set up their assignments, they may not get notified that work has been submitted.

New UA Classes Starting:

The Unified Arts classes will begin their last rotation on Monday. Those of you in Mr. Warnick’s and Mrs. Sanborn’s music classes will need to return your guitar, keyboard, and ukulele, please. From 8:00-2:00 each day, the first set of doors will be unlocked and you can place items in there.

Locker Cleanout Sign Up:

Next week when you bring your child to clean out their locker, you will notice that we have a temporary Free Lending Library in front of the school. Please feel free to use it! Also, if they have any library books or classroom books to return they can do so when they come in.

Summer Camp News:

There have been a lot of questions (and no answers) regarding Robotics Camp, Summer Theatre, and Summer Math Academy. The earliest that we may know about the status of those will be sometime in the middle of May.

Spirit Week Coming:

I have attached a flyer for our Student Council’s “Spirit Week” that will take place beginning on Monday. Kudos to Mr. Parker and members of the Student Council for doing their best to maintain the “norm” of middle school! They are using the program, Padlet, for student submissions. This should be fun!

Poetry Contest:

Also, April is National Poetry Month and we are doing a contest this year where the winner from each grade will have their poem printed on a bookmark that we will give to each student in school. I have sent you kid(s) the information regarding the contest earlier.

I think that’s enough information for one day. Take care of yourselves and take care of your families. We’ll be together soon.
